Funeral services for Alfredo Augustus Smith, 67, of Killeen, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Burial will be at Killeen City Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died Dec. 22, 2015, at a Temple hospital. He was born July 9, 1948, in Colon, Panama.
He was educated in Colon, Panama, and worked for the Panama Canal before moving to the U.S. in 1979.
Mr. Smith worked as a mechanic for Killeen Auto and Wal-Mart before receiving his Bachelor of Arts in automotive science. He enlisted in the National Guard and worked for the MAINTS at North Fort Hood. He later went to Kuwait and Germany as a civilian contractor and as a field inspector for Gillig.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9191 and a member of the Mid-Tex Corvette Club. A sharp dresser, his hobbies were working on cars and being a jokester.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Smith and Alberta Nelson Smith.
Survivors include his wife Amelia Smith of Killeen; sons, Alfredo A. Smith Jr. of Colon, Panama, and Derek Smith of Indianapolis; daughters, Alicia Mathis of Zion, Ill., and Tamara Smith of Allen; sister, Amelia Boyer of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Calvin Mathis Jr., Cayosha Mathis, Derek Smith Jr., Monet' Smith and Alfredo A. Smith III; and nieces, Yovani Brito, Taisha Boyer and Chantal Hardy.
