Services for Alvin Tyron Doggett, 54, of Harker Heights, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen with Herbert G. Witt officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Doggett died Jan. 12, 2012, at a Temple hospital.
He was born June 25, 1957, in Mount Clemens, Mich., where he was also raised.
Mr. Doggett joined the U.S. Navy in 1981 and served through 1985. His awards include the Good Conduct Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
He graduated college with a BA in social sciences and worked several years for Central Counties Center for MHMR in Temple as a counselor.
He was an avid bowler and Trekkie he loved the outdoors and animals.
He was a devoted family man who loved going to the movies.
Mr. Doggett was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Howard and Margaret Doggett.
Survivors include a daughter, Ebony Doggett of Harker Heights a sister, Brenda Johnson of Houston grandchildren, TyShaun Clark and TyLiah Clark, both of Harker Heights a nephew, Herbert G. Witt IV of Houston nieces, LaDawn T. Stephens of San Antonio, Rene A. Witt, Nicole A. Witt and JaNel A. Witt, all of Houston, Margaree A. Witt of San Antonio and Tosha D. Byrd of Detroit, Mich.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
