Funeral services for Amelia Dolores Smith, 79, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Janice Jones officiating. Burial will be at Killeen City Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Nov. 11, 2016, at a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Panama.
She was educated in Panama and moved to Killeen in 1981. She worked as a child care provider in her own home for many years. Children she cared for then brought their children to her to care for. She was a member of The Damas Progresistas.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo; her parents, William and Eula Lee M. Reid; and one brother, Carlos Reid.
Survivors include her sons, Dionisio Thorpe of Panama; brother, Thomas Holder of Killeen; sister, Gloria Reid of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Tashira Thorpe, Christian Thorpe and Dionisio Thorpe all of Panama; one great-grandchild; niece, Nisla Henry of Atlanta, Ga.; and nephew, Dario Reid of Houston.
Memorials may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 2800 S. Trimmier Road, Killeen, TX 76541.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
