Angela Wilkerson

December 24, 1968 — April 26, 2010

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
Angela Cherie Wilkerson was naturally perceived and spiritually discerned to bear the fragrance of one who encouraged others to rejoice. She was born to the parentage of Tom Nelson Jr. and Janie Mae Harris on December 24, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois. She sealed her eternal destiny in the tender years of her youth by accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Her quest to serve his purpose as Lord of her life was initiated in her services rendered as a faithful member of the New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. A woman bound to duty, she enlisted in the United States Army for a brief season. Upon her honorable release, she was united in holy matrimony to SSG Larry Wilkerson, Retired on December 19, 1987.
Angela was readily known to be a person who was filled with compassion for others. Her love and concern for people and their pain ushered her into the nursing profession, where she remained dedicated until her health began to decline. The elasticity of her passion and persistence after some recuperative time caused her to polevault towards the enhancement of her education. She became a full time student, majoring in Psychology and Social Work. The fruit of her diligence resulted in two Associate Degrees in Applied Science from Central Texas College: Chemical Dependency Specialization Social Work Specialization
Along with the fruit of her passionate pursuit was the compliment of her membership to the National Nurses Association and the American Technologist.
The authenticity of her concern and compassion for the needs of others was manifested through her selfless and sacrificial service as a part time volunteer for Women in need.
Among her many delightful engagements, was her love for reading, music, art, and most of all, her love for the Lord. The joy of her service to the Lord was faithfully directed and displayed through the Ministry of Music.
From the time she united with the Marlboro Church Family in June of 2001, Angie maintained an insatiable appetite for worshipping and praising God through Music Ministry. His Lordship in her life was clearly demonstrated through her discipline and determination to stay in and under the Word. Despite the challenges to her health, she was known to participate in Shift, Bible Study, Choir Rehearsal, and worship as many as three times on Sundays.
Epitomizing what it means to bring strength to others out of her weakness Angela was living proof of Gods strength being made perfect in weakness.
After fighting an incredible fight, finishing her earthly course, exercising her faith in God each step of the way Angela Wilkerson was lovingly lifted from the shores of this earthly life on April 26, 2010.
Among those preceding her deliverance from this life are her parents: Tom Nelson Jr. and Janie Harris Nelson and one brother: Treverius Nelson.
Among the host of those left to anticipate our reunion with her in the resurrection to come are her loving husband, Larry her children, Corita Rahsaan Andrews of Germany, and Stefani Wilkerson Marlon Graham, Fianc of Killeen, TX one sister Lacretia Nelson of Chicago, IL one granddaughter, Samaya Andrews and a host of other relatives and close friends.
