Anthony “Tony” Huie Young, 74, of Harker Heights, Texas, passed away suddenly on April 5th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. He was born on November 15, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, to Quock T Young and Chun Young.
Tony led a life filled with remarkable achievements and meaningful connections. A proud veteran, Tony served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, demonstrating his dedication to his country. His time in the military was one of his proudest accomplishments where he embodied the principles of honor, duty, and sacrifice.
His passion and commitment extended beyond his military service, as he served on the boards of the American Red Cross, Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council, and Boy Scouts of America Longhorn Council. For 34 years, Tony selflessly volunteered his time to support scouting in Central Texas, from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, where he served as Scoutmaster for Troops 255 and 271. Through scouting, he found immense joy in positively influencing the lives of countless young individuals, teaching them valuable life skills, and fostering a sense of community.
Tony retired from Sam's Club after 20 years of hard work and devotion. His passion for sports led him to cheer for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, sharing moments of joy with family and friends.
In his leisure time, Tony was an ardent geocacher, known in the geocaching community as “TonyBlueFox”. He found great delight in exploring new places and uncovering hidden treasures and even more in hiding his own caches for others to find.
Tony is preceded in death by his father, Quock T Young; brother, Bill Young; and sister-in-law, Mary Young.
Tony leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 49 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Young, and their four children: Keri Yeagley of Fate, TX; Peter Young of Seattle, WA; Mark Young and wife Kelly of Issaquah, WA; and Daniel Young of Issaquah, WA. He was a cherished grandfather to Ryan Yeagley, Alison Young, and Jillian Young. Tony is also survived by his mother, Chun Young; three brothers, Jack Young and wife Rollande, Henry Young, Ed Young and wife Nina, sister-in-law Jenny Young, and several nieces and nephews.
