Benjamin (Ben) Jones Hyde III of Annapolis, MD, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Friday, November 25, 2022 at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Jones Hyde Jr. of Annapolis, MD, and Virginia Susanne Hyde of Washington D.C.
Ben received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, VA, as well as a Certificate in Bible from Multnomah Bible School in Portland, OR.
Ben's adventures with the Lord took him from Maryland to Virginia, then Michigan, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, South Korea, and lastly, Texas. Ben served with TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission) through military ministry in South Korea from 1979-1984. In March of 1984 Ben married Doris Eileen Bowsher of Spencerville, OH and together they joined Cadence International (then called Overseas Christian Servicemen's Center). Together with their two daughters, they faithfully served the military community at Camp Walker (Taegu, S. Korea) from 1984-1990 and then at Fort Hood, TX from 1992-present.
In his earthly life, Ben dearly loved to visit the beach, go fishing and hunting, share conversation over a cup of coffee, sing hymns, and most importantly, study the word of God. Ben will be remembered as a mnan of God who had an energetic personality, passion for God's word, service to the militarty, love for his family, genuine love of learning, passion for life, and kindness to all he met.
Ben's deepest longing in life was to go on an adventure with God and to see others do the same. His deepest joy was being on that adventure with his wife and two daughters.
Ben leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Doris Eileen Hyde (Kempner, TX); daughters, Bethany (Beth) Joy Hyde (Bryan, TX) and Brittany Joanna Hyde (Killeen, TX); sister, Florence Elaine Berch (Georgetown, TX); and nephew, Maj. Steven Gregory Berch (Jacksonville, NC), USMC.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Ben's names to any of the charities that were close to his heart; The Hope Pregnancy Center, Cadence International, and KHCB Radio, information for all three can be found below.
