Bernice Francis (Citterman) Chlub, age 85, of Killeen TX, passed away on Tuesday Oct 5, 2021, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX. Bernice was born on July 4, 1936, to Joseph and Angnes (Friske) Citterman in Royal Township, Lincoln County, MN. She attended Country School before going to Ivanhoe Public School. She graduated in 1954 and attended Mankato State University for Education. College was cut short when she fell in love with Roy Chlub.
On June 5th, 1956, Bernice was united in marriage to Roy Chlub at St. John Cantius Catholic Church Wilno, MN. Bernice was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She shared her love of the Catholic faith by teaching religion classes.
Bernice farmed side by side with her husband. They were blessed with two daughters.
Bernice was an active parent in her daughters’ education. This led her to working at Ivanhoe Public School as a Special Education Aid. She enjoyed helping children to learn. When Roy and Bernice moved off the farm and into town, Bernice worked at Wal-Mart until she retired and moved to Killeen, Texas.
One of her greatest joys was having her grandchildren come and the spend the summer on the farm. She passed on her love of learning and having fun to her grandchildren. Bernice enjoyed going to the Casinos. She could hit the jack pots in two casinos in one day or go home with empty pockets. She loved sewing quilts and baby blankets for friends and family.
In 2007 Bernice and Roy retired to Killeen Texas. She was an active member of the retirement community she lived at. She helped coordinate the craft club, making holiday crafts for parties and dinners. Bernice had numerous friends that would meet for morning coffee at the club house, go out to eat, play Skip Bo, and share stories.
Grateful to have shared Bernice’s life are her children, Barb (Chlub) Greene of Dayton, OH, Nancy (Chlub) Nelson and Tom Taijeron of Kempner, TX; grandchildren, Becky (Greene) and Kyle Lauterhahn of Columbus, OH, Daniel Greene and wife Trisha, of KY, Robert Greene, Ryan Greene, and Courtney Greene of Dayton, OH; great granddaughter, Charlotte Lauterhahn; siblings, Ferdinand Citterman, Clemence (Theresa) Citterman, Raymond (Joyce) Citterman, Evelyn Panka, Esther Hoffman, and Leona Hauschild and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roy of 57 years, her parents, her sister Clara (John) Biranowski, Ambrose (Bernice) Citterman, Mary Ann Citterman, Walter Panka, Wallace Hoffman, Claire Jerzak, LeRoy Hauschild, Emil (Audrey) Citterman.
