Private graveside services for Betty Yvonne Perkins, 75, of Killeen, will be Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville. Mrs. Perkins died Jan. 10, 2011, in a Harker Heights nursing home. She was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Osceola.
Mrs. Perkins married Jerald Dean Perkins on Oct. 4, 1949, in Rockwall. They have lived in Killeen since 1957. She was an active volunteer with the PTA at East Ward Elementary at treasurer, in addition to serving as a Girl Scout leader for 11 years, and as bowling secretary. She worked in Service Center and Montgomery Wards for 15 years, and at Killeen ISD for five years.
Survivors include her husband, Jerald Perkins, of Killeen daughters, Charlotte Perkins of Nolanville, Beverly Elmore of Killeen, and Cynthia Stripling of Nolanville a sister, Sandra Strickland and her husband Leo, of Arlington grandchildren, Melissa Bohannon and her husband, Todd, of Temple Ashley Emmons and her husband, Mike, of Killeen greatgrandchildren, Ryan Bohannon of Temple, Griffin Bohannon of Temple, Collin Bohannon of Temple, Isabelle Emmons of Killeen and Zayden Emmons of Killeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. and Vivian Maedell Bailey.
Memorials may be made to the Killeen Public Library.
Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
