Billie was born in Milano, Texas, to Charlie B. and Ida Belle Mosley.
She had four brothers: Ollie, James, Thomas and Dan; five sisters: Ruby Doughtery, Leona Stiles, Mary Campbell, Emma Turland and Barbara Trevino.
She married Floyd Ray Ellis on Dec 17, 1945.
The couple cut cedar for a living for five years in the Killeen/Belton area while living in a tent. They had their first child, Vernon Ray Ellis in 1949 and moved to downtown Killeen. They had two daughters shortly after: Wanda Faye Dowell (Sue Mae) and Barbara K Ellis (Katy). Billie had ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Billie worked at various laundries in the Killeen area for 15 years including
Gates Laundry, Tip Top Laundry and Handy Cleaners. She then went to work on Ft. Hood for civil service at Quarter Master Laundry, Darnell Army Hospital, Cold Storage and SSSC. She retired after 28 years. Billie returned to work at 73,
serving continental breakfast at Sleep Inn for two years in Killeen. Billie was
known, loved and respected by many people and will forever be missed and
remembered.
