On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, Billy Ray Plummer transitioned from this earthly life to a heavenly home. He was born April 24, 1952 to the late Elijah Plummer Sr. and the late Lillian Wardell Plummer-Tate.
He confessed hope and belief in Christ at a very early age and was baptized at Bethany M.B. Church in Dermott, AR.
He attended Chicot County High School and Morris-Booker Memorial Baptist College. Billy was always an avid dancer and made a brief appearance on the dance show American Bandstand. He loved camping, fishing and grilling and could always be found doing just that. After 22 years of active duty he retired from the US Army. Thereafter, he worked various jobs until he went to work for LJT. He enjoyed the job and loved the people he worked with. He retired from LJT after 18 years of service. He was a hard worker and loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Elijah Plummer, Jr., and Allen Joe Wardell all of Dermott, AR.
He leaves to cherish his memory his life partner, Mrs. Leona Sokolowski of Killeen, TX.; Five sisters, Mary Lee Shaw of Dermott, AR.; Paulette(James) Martin of Little Rock, AR.; Patricia Ann(Eddie) Cleary and Virginia Daire Hampton both of Dermott, AR.; Dollie Ann(Junious) Ivory of Waldo, AR.; Four children: Alvin Tate of Little Rock, AR.; Stephanie Jackson of Milwaukee, WI.; Gerald Plummer and Dwane(Lisa) Plummer of Killeen, TX.; Eleven grandchildren: Jessica Swiney of Rockwall, TX.; Mikli Simmons of Tulsa, OK.; Josh Figures of Joplin, Mo.; Al'leeh Tate and Shariece Tate both of Tulsa, OK. Robert Marlow of Milwaukee, WI.; Christopher Marlow of Phoenix, AZ.; Dominique Marlow of Milwaukee, WI. Three great-grandchildren: Jy'Cyon Swiney and Jessiah Swiney both of Rockwall, TX.; Joy Figures of Joplin, MO., and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
