Services for Bobby Ray Brock, 77, of Killeen and Temple will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Killeen with the Rev. Randy Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Conroe Memorial Cemetery in Conroe.
Mr. Brock died September 11, 2011, at Scott White Hospital in Temple.
He was born June 20, 1934, in Bruceville, the son of Georgia Lee and Helen Gruetzer Brock.
Mr. Brock was educated in the BrucevilleEddy schools, received a B.S. degree in SciencePhysical Education from Baylor University in 1956 and a Master of Educational Administration degree from Tarleton State University in 1981. He worked for two years as a tester with the Texas Highway Department and 41 years as a teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal in the Abbott, Lorena, Valley Mills, BrucevilleEddy and Killeen school systems.
While at Abbott High School he coached sixman football and took three teams to the regional level in football, 12 teams to regional in track, and two relays teams to state. During his 24 years with the Killeen ISD he taught at Meadows, Harker Heights, and Clear Creek Elementary Schools.
He was active in the retired teachers association, the Four Winds Intertribal Society, and the Texas Indian Hobbyist Association.
Mr. Brock was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lee Brock, Jr., sister Virginia Carpenter, and Paula Coody Brock, his wife of 34 years. He is survived by his niece, Charlotte Brown, his grandniece, Kari Anderson, and his companion of eight years, Mary Bryant Bradley.
Friends and relatives will receive visitors from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen.
