Brian Michael “Pops” Callender, 78, of Killeen, TX, passed away on January 4, 2024. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Thursday, January 11th at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home beginning at 11 am.

Brian was born on March 29, 1945, in New York, to parents, Brian and Mary Callender. On June 25, 1966, he married Jeanne Theresa Walsh. They spent 57 beautiful years together before his passing. Brian was a very kind, caring and gentle individual. He served our country in the United States Navy, during which he harnessed his love for sports and coached many sports within the Navy, leading to winning many awards. After his time in the Navy, Pops coached his children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren in Little League. He was a great person and father, known for always taking care of his family and loved coaching his granddaughter’s High School softball teams. Brian also loved horse racing and even went on to own horses during different periods of his life. Brian loved to stay busy, and after retiring from the Navy, he started his own business. This gave him the freedom to travel around the United States with his family, which was an amazing way to create memories with his beloved family. He was employed at Killeen Ford until his passing.

Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Brian and Mary Callender.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanne Callender; brothers, Brendan and Kevin Callender; son, Anthony Callender; daughter, Denise Sheilds; grandchildren, Bianca Feliciano, Byron Denny, Joseph Griffin, Skyler Callender, and Dylan Callender; and great-grandchildren, Makayla Pettis, Dominic Sunga, and Molly Callender.
