Services for Kim Byung Wan, 63, will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen with Pastor Sung H. Kim officiating. BRBRMr. Kim died Aug. 6, 2009, peacefully at his home. He was born April 20, 1946, in Pohang, South Korea, to parents Kim Dong Jin and Chong Bok Nam. He was the oldest of three children. He married his wife, Hong Yong Hui, in July 1968. BRBRMr. Kim graduated from college with a degree in elementary education and excelled in judo, discus, wrestling and swimming. He later pursued a career as a maritime sailor, immigrated to the United States in August 1977 with his wife and two sons, served honorably in the U.S. Army and Texas National Guard from 1979 to 1990. After his service with the military, his entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to start several successful businesses. He was the president of the Killeen Korean Athletics Association, a member of the Korean Jang Chin Hwe, and veteran of the United States Military. BRBRByung always put others before himself, and was a man of immeasurable patience. His greatest joys in life were to make his wife and children happy. His carefree spirit and worry-free attitude put him among the grandchildren's favorite grandparent. Byung was extremely active and always on the go; he attended his local gym religiously every morning. He especially loved a good bargain. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. BRBRMr. Kim is survived by his wife, Kim Yong Hui; his sons, Koo Hyung and Koo Ho; his daughters, Chong, Soyoun and Neomi; son-in-law, Greg; daughters-in-law, Tracy and Melissa; and four grandchildren, Taylor, Allie, Shelby and Sophie. BRBRVisitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home, 506 N. 38th St., Killeen. BR
