Obituary

Carl F. Anderson, age 78, of Harker Heights, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 5, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, to George and Claire Anderson.

Carl was an incredible man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and serviceman. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics and proudly served 32 years on active duty as a United States Army pilot. Throughout his career, Carl flew several aircraft, including the Black Hawk, C-12, and RC-12. He served during Desert Storm, Bosnia, and Iraq, and achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5. His many awards and medals included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal. Combined with his post-retirement work, Carl served the government for a total of 40 years.

Carl began his military career at Fort Bliss, where he met the love of his life, Elizabeth M. Anderson. They were married on July 24, 1981, and shared 44 wonderful years together. His career took him and his family to Texas, California, Alabama, and Germany, giving him the opportunity to see the world and serve with dedication wherever he was called.

Carl was a man of faith who was known for his dependability, quiet kindness, and strong work ethic. He enjoyed spending his free time working on home improvements, golfing, boating, reading the newspaper, and traveling. In the summer, he loved spending time with family by the pool and taking trips to the beach. In the fall, he could often be found watching football and cheering on the Patriots. Much like his personal life, Carl’s career was guided by the principles of professionalism, selflessness, and dedication.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, George and Claire Anderson; and his sister, Gayle E. Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth M. Anderson; his son, Ryan M. Anderson; his daughters, Christina J. Fackert and Chelsea E. Anderson; his grandchildren, Cora A. Fackert and Braegan L. Bartoszek; his brother, Eric J. Anderson; his sister, Lisa K. English; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Carl will be greatly missed, never forgotten, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
