Services for Charles E. Dye will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John C. Hallum officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen Memorial Park.
Mr. Dye died July 2, 2013, at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1952, in Charleston, W.Va. He grew up in Killeen, where he attended Killeen Independent School District.
He was a member of East Side Baptist Church. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June of 1972, where he served in Korea for one year and was then transferred to Fort Sill, Okla. After leaving the service, he went to work at Fort Hood as a civil service employee. He retired in 2011 with 40 years of federal service.
Mr. Dye enjoyed aircraft, motorcycles and target shooting. He was an excellent mechanic who could fix about anything he would get his hands on and was also a great carpenter.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Martha Dye daughter, Jamie Michelle Dye of Kempner son, Charles Bowen Dye of Kearny, Ariz. sisters, Joyce Smartnick of Boulder, Mont., Tammy Coleman and Marilyn James of Kempner and Rebecca McMickle of Killeen.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
