Charles Wesley Reding, Jr., age 97, of Temple, Texas, passed away on May 1, 2026.
Charles Wesley “Wes” Reding was born on December 31, 1928, in Killeen, Texas, and graduated from Killeen High School. He proudly served six years in the United States Air Force, followed by four years in civil service at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Afterward, he dedicated 37 and a half years to the General Electric Company, retiring in 1994.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Wilma (Hold) Reding; his sister, Norma Sue (Reding) Whatley; his adopted sister, Mary (Hold) Davis; two infant brothers; his brother, Larry Reding; his first wife of 38 years, Kathleen (Scherr) Reding; and his second wife, Carol Ann Reding.
He is survived by his children: • Kathleen Guffey and her husband, Gregory • Colette Dollarhide and her husband, Jerry • Tricia Bartley and her former husband, Michael • Michael Wesley Reding
Wes is also survived by his grandchildren: Elyssa Guffey Noonan, Rissa Guffey Duymovic, Shiloh Dollarhide Teague, Sierra Bartley, Heather Bartley Resendiz, and Amber Bartley.
He leaves behind many great-grandchildren, including Torin Noonan, Brianna Noonan, Audrey Duymovic, Deitrich Duymovic, James Wesley Wende, Cadence Wende, Brooklyn Hale, Frank W. Hale V, Zackary Bartley, Talon Bartley, Vivienne Resendiz, Claire Resendiz, and Scarlett Resendiz, as well as great-great-grandchild Becklyn Wende.
Wes is also survived by his stepchildren: • Tona Johnston and her husband, John • Terry Woolard and his wife, Dinah • Bradley Woolard and his wife, Angie
Step-grandchildren include Amanda Luttrell and her husband, Brian; Stephanie Munoz; Justin Woolard and his wife, Ashlee; Kensie Gay and her husband, James; Colton Woolard and his wife, Kaitlynn; and Kasey Woolard. Step-great-grandchildren include Katelyn Luttrell, Emma Luttrell, Aiden Munoz, Elora Munoz, Logan Woolard, and Casen Woolard.
He is further survived by his brother, Jerry Reding.
Our families are deeply grateful for the time we had with him. Wes was a sweet, generous soul whose kindness touched everyone around him. His presence will be profoundly missed.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Killeen Memorial Park.
