Funeral Services for Karl Stanley Tomaka, 81, of Nolanville, will be held Thursday September 17, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Texas State Veteran's
Cemetery.
Karl was born on April 20, 1934 in Lackawanna, New York, to Paul and Stella Tomaka.
He passed away Tuesday in a local nursing home after a lengthy struggle with Myasthenia Gravis.

His wife Tina preceded him in death, passing away on May 6th, 2014.

Karl and Tina were married on August 13th, 1957 in Buffalo, New York.

Karl devoted his life to his family and to the U.S. Army family. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Transportations Corps through the Army ROTC program at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, on June 2, 1957. He later received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Babson College in 1970.
His military career spanned 27 years and encompassed assignments throughout the United States and Korea and a combat tour in Vietnam. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He retired with the rank of Colonel on December 31, 1984.
After retirement, he worked as a consultant for Tri State Motor Transit Company for many years. He is survived by his children Paul and Karla and grandchildren, Claire, Danielle, Jonathan, Zachary and Hailey.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
