Coy Charping, of Killeen, passed away on July 23, 2026. He was 93 years old. Coy was born November 13, 1932, in Dodson, Louisiana, to Antz Charping Sr. and Cynthia Charping (Cox). 

As a builder, developer, and businessman, Coy spent decades turning ideas into something lasting, taking pride in a job well done. He believed in doing things right, and those who worked alongside him knew they could count on him to follow through. 

Coy was happiest outdoors. Whether he was in the woods before sunrise waiting for a deer, or out on the water waiting for a fish to bite. Hunting and fishing weren't just hobbies to him, they were where he found his peace and where he passed down some of his best stories, wisdom and a few of his favorite spots to hunt to his sons, grandchildren and great-children.

But more than his love of the outdoors, Coy will be remembered for being a mentor, generous, kind to everyone he met and quick with a joke that could make anyone laugh. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and a wit that kept his family smiling. He was in every sense, a role model. The kind of husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that anyone would hope to become.

Coy is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deloris Charping; brothers, Elmer, Lloyd, Oscar, and Antz Charping; and grandson, Brian Cosby.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Mark Charping and wife Lupe, of Lampasas, Ron Charping and wife Debra, of Texas City, and Terry Charping and wife Kim, of Killeen; grandchildren, Eric Charping and husband Dan Murphy, of Georgetown, Carly Charping, of Texas City, Joseph Roberts, of Troy, Ashley Mills and husband Robert, of Lampasas, Laura Hardy and husband Michelangelo II, of Austin, and Markos Terrazas, of Austin; and great-grandchildren, Coy, Eric, and Olin Jeffcoat, Kaleigh Mills, Brian Cosby, Emeleigh Mills, Nova Harris, Wayne Mills, Maddison Roberts, and Michelangelo Henri Hardy III. Coy’s family invites family and friends to join them for a time of visitation on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 9:00AM, at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 10:00AM. Coy will be laid to rest at Maxdale Cemetery
