Funeral services for beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Curtis N. Necessary, 91, of Nolanville will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with Dan Carter and Steven English officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville.
Mr. Necessary passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at a local hospital.
Curtis was born June 17, 1925 in Lohn, Texas to Orville and Ruth (Shackelford) Necessary. He entered the U.S. Navy and proudly served our country with tours in the South Pacific, World War II and on the USS Woodson Destroyer Escort as a torpedoman second class. He later worked as an oil field engineer for Haliburton Oil Company, Baker Hughes and overseas in Venezuela. After retirement he moved to Nolanville in 1996. Mr. Necessary was a member of the Killeen Church of Christ and a longtime volunteer at Indian Oaks Nursing Home. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved fishing. He was lovingly known as "Pockets" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada M. Necessary.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn English and husband Ron; 2 brothers, Harold Necessary and wife Jeanie and Cliff Necessary and wife Katie; sister, LaVerne Pearson; grandchildren, Steven English and Kathy Muzzall and husband Adrian; 4 great-grandchildren, Chance Wade English, Alexis English, Kristin Biehn and Kelsie Biehn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and John Biehn.
The family will receive visitors for 1 hour prior to the service.
