Harker Heights

(Dale) Linda Deshotel gracefully left the world on January 29, 2024, at the age of 76 in Harker Heights, Texas. Linda was born on November 20, 1947, in Oakdale, Louisiana, to her loving parents Doris and David Vidrine.

Linda lived a life dedicated to caring for others as a nurse for over three decades. Her noble and compassionate nature served as the foundation for her remarkable career in nursing. After completing her education, Linda became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and began her journey of healing and comforting those in need.

Linda's competence and dedication were evident in her exceptional work history. Over the course of her nursing career, she worked tirelessly across both Louisiana and Texas. Regardless of the challenges or demanding shifts that arose, Linda always remained steadfast and committed to providing the highest standard of care. Her ability to balance her professional obligations with the demanding roles of wife, mother, and grandmother was truly remarkable.

As a military wife, Linda embraced the sacrifices required by such a life. Despite living far from cherished family members, she approached each new place as an opportunity to form lasting friendships. Linda's warm and kind-hearted personality effortlessly drew people towards her, enabling her to establish meaningful connections across the nation. Through her extensive travels during this time, Linda had the pleasure of exploring various destinations and discovering new places that brought joy to her heart.

Above all else, Linda found immeasurable fulfillment in being a mother and grandmother. Her dedication to nurturing her children and grandchildren was unparalleled. Family meant the world to Linda; she cherished every moment spent with them. Her love knew no bounds as she provided unwavering support throughout their lives.

Linda will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a life full of beautiful memories for those closest to her. Linda's memory will forever be treasured by her husband, Ronald Deshotel of Harker Heights, Texas; her brother David Vidrine and his wife Kay of DeRidder, Louisiana, sister Mel and her husband Gary Fuselier of Monroe, Louisiana, and her beloved children Christopher Deshotel of Harker Heights, Texas, Michael Deshotel of Hazen, Arkansas, and Michelle Barfield and her husband Cary of Florence, Texas. Linda's legacy continues through the lives of her cherished grandchildren: Cameryn Salazar and her husband Ivan of Austin, Texas; Drew Barfield of Austin, Texas; and Carys Deshotel of Little Rock, Arkansas. Their lives have been forever enriched by the love and guidance they received from their beloved grandmother.

During this time of grief, let us remember Linda as a remarkable woman who touched countless lives with her kindness and nurturing spirit. Her legacy will endure in the hearts of all those she cared for both professionally and personally. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she made a significant difference in the world through her dedication to others. Though her passing leaves us with an inexpressible void in our hearts, we rejoice knowing that she is no longer in pain and with the faith that we will reunite with her again in heaven.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Baylor, Scott & White, Temple, TX., those of M.D. Anderson Houston, TX., those of Seton Medical Center, Harker Heights, TX., those of Advent Health, Killeen, TX., those of St. David's Medical Center, Austin, TX., those of New Century Hospice Care, and finally but not least the members of my family, near and far, my community and longtime friends who stepped up when there was a need.
