David M. Smith, age 64, of Killeen, Texas died Friday, March 6th, 2020 at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
Born in Teague, Texas, on December 11th, 1955, David was the only child to Jack and Olivia Smith. He lived in Buffalo, Texas during his childhood with his family.
He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1974 to 1998 as a combat engineer. He retired from the military as a 1st Sergeant after 24 years of service. After his military service, he worked as the contracts and transportation manager for Heart of Texas Goodwill industries from 1998 to 2020 for 22 years. He then began his full retirement in January of 2020.
David was dedicated to his work and enjoyed working and having something to do. He was a great provider and made sure his family had everything they needed. He enjoyed fishing and watching NCIS on television every Tuesday.
David is survived by his wife, Phyllis, his four children, Jennifer, Joseph, James, and Christopher, and four grandchildren, Emma, Easton, Hudson, and Elise.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 20th, at Harper-Talasek Funeral home in Killeen, Texas. Visitation will take place the night before on Thursday, March 19th from 6-8PM.
