Services for retired Chief Warrant Officer3 Delmar M. Henderson, 79, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen with Deacon Eugene Morse officiating. Interment will follow at Killeen Memorial Park. Mr. Henderson died May 11, 2010, at a Temple hospital.
He was born March 14, 1931 in Reading, Ohio. He was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps on April 10, 1952. He served in the Army Reserve for four years before going on active duty with the Army in 1958. He achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer3 before retiring at Fort Hood in 1978. His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters Good Conduct Medal with clasp, Bronze two loops Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal National Defense Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster Armed Forces Reserve Medal Meritorious Unit Citation Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver Service Star Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with palm.
Mr. Henderson married Marian Allender on Aug. 2, 1958. He owned and operated MK Products in Belton for 20 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mertie Henderson, and a son, Douglas Henderson.
Survivors include his wife, Marian K. Henderson of Killeen son, Rick Henderson and his wife, Barbara, of Glendora, California and a grandon, Ricky Henderson of Glendora, California.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. Monday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
