Denise Lape Martinez, specially known as "Babe" and formerly of Inalahan, Guam, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Advent Health Hospital in Killeen, Texas at the age of 48. She was surrounded by her loving family who will greatly miss her presence.
Denise was born on March 29, 1973 to Douglas and Lillian Lape in Colorado. She had 4 siblings and grew up surrounded by a large family full of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. During her childhood Denise has lived in Colorado, Washington, California, and Guam. Within her teenage years she met her middle school sweetheart, Rodney Martinez, whom she married and spent the rest of her life with. Denise had a strong love for children and always had special relationships with them. She became an immediate godmother and maintained a strong bond to all the children in her life. Although she did not have children of her own, she had her fur baby, Simba for the past 10 years. Denise has lived in Texas near her family for the past 15 years. She enjoyed being active in all her family celebrations, especially when it's a new birth or child's birthday. She could enter the room and all the children would gravitate toward her. Denise was loved so much because of her beautiful spirit. She was kind, full of laughter, and a great listener. Together with her husband, Denise loved to be involved in her Chamorro culture. Whether it be assisting with village fiestas, decorating her home with Guam souvenirs, or even just singing along with old time Chamorro songs. Denise will be tremendously missed and although her life was short, she never took time for granted. Almost all her time was spent creating memories with those she truly loved.
