Dennis Ellison

Killeen- Funeral services for Dennis Olan Ellison, 55, of Little-River Academy will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Harper Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Burial will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

He passed away Tuesday, June 07, 2016 at a Temple hospital.

Dennis was born on May 8, 1961 in Springfield, Ohio to James O. Ellison and Marilyn Maxine Fisher Jenschke. He graduated from Graham High School in 1979. He entered into the US Army in June of 1979. During his military career he earned several medals including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement with Oak Leaf Cluster and Good Conduct Medal with Bronze, 2 loops. He served as a Military Police Investigator until his honorable discharge in January of 1988. Dennis earned a Black Belt in Taekwondo and was a Taekwondo instructor in Germany and Texas. He was awarded the European Gold Medal at the 1998 Open Taekwondo Championship Tournament. He married Loretta Urbanek on June 28, 2013 in Holland. Dennis was a self-employed property preservationist. He was a Catholic.

Dennis was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Ellison of Little-River Academy; 1 son, Jeramiah Ellison of Georgia; 1 daughter, Vanessa Kubert of Germany; 2 step-sons, Jeremy McCubbin of Las Vegas and Tanner Barnett of Round Rock; 1 step-daughter, Kimberlee McCubbin of Florida; his mother, Marilyn Jenschke of Nolanville; 1 brother, Doug Ellison of Ohio; 1 sister, Jean Ellison of Belton; and 7 grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the funeral home.
