Diana was born Oct. 23, 1959, in Harrisonville, Mo., to the late Raymond Bernard and Juanita Shockley.
She was raised in Cleveland, Mo., and was a graduate of CassMidway Class of 1977. She received her Associate of Arts JCCC in 1979, and then went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Avila University in 1982. Her many accomplishments included past president of Cleveland Jaycee and she also served as secretary. Ms. Gargus moved to Killeen in 1983, where she became the office manager for Carutherss Tire Services where she ran the show for 30 years. Her lifes joy was raising her son, Jonathan Allan. She and Jonathan were active in Scouts, and she received many awards and being the adjustment chair and secretarytreasurer proudly watching as her son achieved Eagle Scout in 2013 with Troop 261. She loved her birds, Mickey Mouse and anything with Disney. She was a loving mom, sister and aunt. She was a caring and loving person who always thought of others, spending some of her time giving quilts to all her nieces and nephews. Our Dinky will always be in our hearts. A special thank you to all who have prayed, visited and kept us going in our time of need. We also want to thank Killeen First Church of the Nazarene, which she was a devoted member, and the staff of Scott White Hospital.
Survivors include her beloved son, Jonathan Allan of Killeen sisters, Charlene and her husband, David Palmer, of Belton, Mo., Wanda and her husband, Mark Garrigus, of Archie, Mo., Melody and her husband, Donnie Caruthers, of Harker Heights nieces and nephews, Hunter Ray Caruthers of Harker Heights Gina Marett Riley and Landon of Black Mountain, N.C., Cody and his wife, Irina Grindstaff Austen and Leo of Asheville, N.C., Matt and his wife, Adrienne Grindstaff Carter and Noah of Albuquerque, N.M., and Shelby Garrigus of Archie, Mo. and many family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Jonathan Allan Gargus college fund at First Texas Bank of Killeen, Killeen First Church of the Nazarene, 951 Stagecoach Road, Killeen, TX 76541, American Cancer Society or Lynch Cancer International, P.O. Box 5456, Vacaville, CA 95688. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
