Services for Carolyn Holt, 78, of Round Rock, formerly of Harker Heights, will be Friday, August 3, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Groesbeck First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Faulkenberry Cemetery under direction of Harper Talasek Funeral Home of Killeen.
Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
Carolyn passed away on July 31, 2012 at Park Valley Inn Care Center in Round Rock.
She was born August 5, 1933 in Groesbeck, Texas to H. O. and Christine Walker Whitehurst.
On August 7, 1955 she married Jene Holt . He passed away on Sept. 8, 1998.
She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1950 and from Texas Womens University in 1954. She received her Masters in Library Science from Sam Houston State University in 1976.
She taught school at Ennis, Mexia, McKinney, Marlin and Cy Fair ISDs. She retired in 1996 from Cypress Creek High School as head librarian.
Carolyn was a member of the Killeen First United Methodist Church where she attended the Wesley Sunday School Class and was a member of the Mary Ruth Circle and United Methodist Women. She was also a member and past president of her chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Carolyn enjoyed bridge club in Cypress Creek and traveling with her husband, family and friends. She was a devout Christian lady who loved the Lord and her church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Martha Whitehurst Young and Frances Whitehurst Maxwell and a niece, Susan Young Jones.
Survivors include a son, Allen Holt of Houston a daughter Anne and her husband Mike Hoel of Harker Heights five grandchildren, Marshall and Grace Hoel both of Harker Heights and Wesley, Samuel and Benjamin Holt all of Houston
The family suggests memorials to Cypress United Methodist Church Library, First United Methodist Church Groesbeck, First United Methodist Church Killeen, Light House Hospice 2913 Williams Dr. Ste. 320 Georgetown, Texas 78628, or The Alzheimers Association.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Park Valley Inn and Light House Hospice for the loving care their mother received.
