Dottie Rittenour

Rosalene Bragg Gillespie Rittenour, 86, of Harker Heights, TX, went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2018.
Rosalene was an original coal miner's daughter, born in Bays, West Virginia on January 4, 1932. She graduated from Nicholas County High School, continuing on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Education through Shepherds College, Townson University, Glenville State College, University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Manatee Junior College, and Central Texas College.
Rosalene worked as a dedicated teacher for 32 years in the states of West Virginia, Maryland, Florida and Texas, as well as Germany, while her husband was stationed abroad there in the United States Army. Rosalene enjoyed spending time with her family, participating in Jeopardy, Spelling Bee Champion, playing Scrabble, Spades, and crossword puzzles. She was also an avid sports enthusiast.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert G. Gillespie, Sr., after seven years of marriage, her second husband, Alton B. Rittenour, following 32 years of marriage, her parents, Harry and Vena Bragg, her sister, Bessie Cogar, and two brothers, Danny Bragg and Don Bragg.
Rosalene is survived by three sons, Delbert G. Gillespie and Beverly of Pennsylvania, Alton O. Rittenour, and Jeffrey A. Rittenour, both of Texas. She will also be sadly missed by nine grandchildren, two sisters, Anna Faye Mollohan and Carol Bragg Lewis, and many nieces and nephews, along with other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, VA on Friday, November 2 from 5 pm to 7 pm. The funeral service will take place at 10 am on Saturday, November 3, with burial to follow at Cullers Cemetery.
