Edwin ‘Ed’ Hulse, of Killeen, passed away on August 23, 2026. He was 68 years old. Ed was born to Granvyl G. Hulse Jr. and Helen Hulse (Kay), in Washington, D.C., on August 3, 1958.

Between Ed's travels as a child because of his father’s job and as an adult for the Gideons in Temple as well as Corpus Christi, Ed had seen a lot of the world and the United States, adventures he treasured. His journey took him to places like the United Kingdom, Ethiopia, and the Philippines as well as living in the U.S., places like Virginia, Washington D.C. again, where his daughter was born and New Hampshire, which he felt was his true home. Eventually Ed’s adventures led him to Corpus Christi, Texas where his two sons, and later granddaughter, were born and where he lived for many years before making his way to the Killeen/Temple area, forming a community through the Gideons and his local church. It is also where he eventually passed in the early morning of Sunday, August 23rd, after a day surrounded by his family, who shared stories and laughs for him and of his interesting and God led life.

Ed would always try to make you laugh, his joyful personality and happy demeanor carried him through life and into many people’s hearts. He devoted much of his adult life to Christ, not only as a churchgoer but as a Gideon, Deacon, and Pastor. He was obsessed with history, old literature, and gaining knowledge. He was wise yet humble and while he might be gone, our memories of him will keep him alive inside of us for as long as we live.

Ed is preceded in death by both of his parents.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of nearly 20 years, Anita Robertson-Hulse; children, Benjamin Hulse, Miranda Hulse and her husband Anthony Schuler, and Isaiah Hulse; granddaughter, Vivianna Hulse-Schuler; siblings, James Hulse and wife Anne, Martha Zook and husband Lee, and Heather Hulse; step-mother, Susan Smith; and a host of extended family.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at First Baptist Church Killeen, at 11:00AM. The family invites friends and family to join them for a time of visitation at the church, one hour before the service (10:00AM). Following the service, Ed will be laid to rest at North Belton Cemetery.
