Mrs. Ella Thompson Anglin was born to the union of Mack Thompson and Julia White Thompson on September 25, 1937 in the city of Union Springs, Alabama. She was the youngest of four children. While a resident of Union Springs, she attended public schools of which she was active as a majorette and stellar in basketball. She graduated from Merritt High School, and moved to Chicago, Illinois. She pursued her college education at IBM Industrial College for Computer Science and later earned her Associates Degree from Central Texas College of Killeen, Texas.
During her early years, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at Brown Grove AME Church in Union Springs, Alabama. Upon moving to Chicago, she united with Greater Harvest MBC under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Louis Boddie, where she served in the adult choir and Sunday School.
Eventually, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Anglin, who was a soldier in the US Army. They were married on July 10, 1969 in Chicago, and were later blessed to rear one beautiful daughter during their union. Throughout the years, they have had the privilege to adopt many sons and daughters.
She absolutely loved working with children of all ages. During her tenure with Killeen Independent School District, she was blessed to serve children with special needs and was also a mother figure to staff and students alike. She also served as Youth Director at Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where she mentored many children who affectionately referred to her as Mama Anglin.
She had a heart for all people and loved being a blessing by visiting those sick in hospitals, nursing homes, and those shutin. She also loved serving with Sr. Womens Mission I II, Adult Choir, Senior Choir, Jail Ministry, and Prayer Band until her health began to decline.
During the sweet moments of Monday, April 7, 2014, Ella answered the call of her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Willie Lee Thompson, and her two sisters Esther Thompson Ellis and Willie Mae Thompson Hammock.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband Robert Anglin, one daughter Jeanya Anglin, one adopted daughter Chicqualla Prevot, one sister Sandra Frazier, five grandchildren Robert, Joshua, Danyah, Bashiri, and Lola, longtime friend Ethel Chambers, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
