Elsie Margaret Barnes Tolliver, 88, of Killeen, TX, passed away on September 25 in Temple, Texas. She was born to the late Moses and Elsie Pollock Barnes, November 10, 1925 in Waxahachie, TX.
Elsie grew up in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1943. While a student at North Texas State University in Denton, TX, Elsie met and later married Lester Tolliver on September 8th, 1945.
Elsie developed a love for travel each time she and Les were stationed to a new location. Throughout her life, she was involved with many activities such as the NCO Wives Club, where she served as the president. Elsie loved playing cards and dominoes with her family and friends. Being very active with the service organization, Eastern Star, she served as the Worthy Matron twice.
In her later years, Elsie was active and took many trips with the Gilmore Center in Killeen, TX. She also loved to garden. Elsie loved her family deeply, and was very devoted to them. This was especially evident after Les became a patient at the Veterans Hospital in Temple. For 3 12 years, she drove 50 miles round trip to visit him every day.
Preceded in death by her husband Lester Tolliver.
Elsies life is celebrated by her love of her family. She is survived by Jeanne Humphrey, Carol Morgan, Dawnie Dahir, Terry Tolliver and Lynne Tames, soninlaws Stanley Morgan and Edward Dahir, and daughterinlaw Lynna Tolliver.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Methodist Childrens Home in Waco, TX or any Alzheimers organizations.
