He married Guadalupe Jimenez on Feb 7, 1959 in Caldwell, Texas and lived in Killeen Texas . They met at a dance and were blessed with 7 children, 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

His love of working with his hands on all things mechanical led him to a career as an automotive mechanic. He worked at several dealerships in Killeen before opening his own Garage. Lutie entered the Federal Active Service on 30 November 1972 and retired on the 30 November 2007 after 35 years of dedicated service. He never met anyone he didn't consider a friend and was always willing to give a helping hand. He enjoyed meeting people and striking up a conversation.
