From a grieving family.....
A lifelong resident of Texas, our beloved mother was born January 25th 1939 in Corpus Christi where she lived most of her life, before moving to Houston and later to Killeen. She was a young bride and raised seven children before following some of them north to Houston. Following children proved to be her way as she continued north, making Killeen her home in early 2001. On Thursday, November 16th (again following a child, her oldest boy "Bobbito"), Emma Garcia McGraw began her journey that has seen her reunited her with parents Petra & Robert Garcia, husband Ernest McGraw Sr. and son Robert McGraw, her "|Bobbito"|. Those she left behind for now are daughters Alma McGraw, Patsy Bowman (Jerry), Ruby McGraw & Susie Coulon (Nelson), sons George McGraw & Ernest McGraw Jr., three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and loving communities of friends in all three of her Texas cities. Her last decade and a half were shared with a faithful cat, Pumpkin, who will be well cared for and remain in the family.
As well as being a full-time parent, our Emma's work included that of a nurse's aid, a nursing home attendant and a cosmetologist. Her genuine love of being with people makes it hard to say what her favorite pastimes were. It seemed not so important what she was doing, but who she was with. Coffee with friends, crafts, puzzles and winning at bingo may have been favorite ways to spend her day. She was always making friends, wherever she went, whatever she did. She loved Easter and Valentine's Day.
A funeral service for Emma McGraw, 78, of Killeen, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen. Her final resting place will be in the Killeen City Cemetery immediately following her service and as she would wish, all are invited to attend. Our mother would also like you to sign her guestbook and perhaps share your thoughts on her memorial page on the Harper Talasek website or in person at her public visitation. We want to hear your stories! Thank you so much for your kind attention at this difficult time. Your presence is important to us because you were important to Mother.
