Erika Sanchez-Schmidt

Erika Sanchez-Schmidt, 83, of Killeen, passed away on April 21st, 2024.

Erika was born on August 7th, 1940, in Gonsenheim, Germany to Ludwig and Margareta Schmidt. She met the love of her life in 1971 and came with him to the US in 1974, where she raised two daughters. She did not know the language or the culture, but through time she taught herself while her husband served in the US Army.

She took pride in keeping a beautiful home and yard. She always made sure everyone was taken care of, loved to cook and go swimming, loved being with family and going shopping. Most of all she loved to dance. She was instrumental in helping raise her grandchildren and took pride in her family. She never met a stranger and was great at making people feel comfortable. Her passing will be felt greatly, and she will be truly missed.

Erika is preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Margareta Schmidt; brother, Ludwig; and sisters, Ellen, Renate, Ria, and Wilma.

Erika is survived by her husband, Jose Sanchez; brothers, Gerhardt and Hans-jurgen; children; Frank, Uver, Yvonne, and Diana; grandchildren, Cameron, Jaszmeen, London, and Khary; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, and Kaia.

A special thanks to Jaszmeen for caring for her Oma every day for the last two years, so she could be home with family and well taken care of. Also, to all the nursing staff associated with Embrace Hospice.
