Killeen - Fancy Ruth Pace, of Norfolk, VA, passed away on Wednesday, Aug 19, 2020, in Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Temple, TX, at 1:40 a.m. After a courageous 11-month battle, she succumbed to an aggressive recurrence of Breast Cancer. She was 64 years of age.

Born to Jimmie “Allen” and Olivia Freeman in Norfolk, VA on Aug 27, 1955, she was the second eldest of six children. She graduated from Maury High School in 1973.

In 1981, she joined the United States Army. She served as a Unit Supply Specialist. Her career led her to befriend others while living in North Carolina, Germany, Washington, Korea, and Texas. She retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service in 2001.

After establishing new roots in Killeen, TX, she furthered her education by successfully obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Tarleton State University in 2006.

She was a substitute school teacher in Texas and an avid sports mom. Coming to know the Lord, she was a woman of many talents The Lord called her to be an evangelist, Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. She loved teaching the gospel of the Lord to anyone that would listen, whether young or old. She was always there to pray for others and their families.

Fancy was preceded in death by her father Jimmie “Allen” Freeman Sr, her son Ira Pace Jr, and her daughter Terra Quinn.

She is survived by her loving family - three sons: MSgt (Ret) Terrence Pace (Heather), Vondell Pace, and Cory Jefferson (JaLisa), three grandsons: Nathaniel Pace, Tobijah Pace, and Ronny Quinn II, five granddaughters: Shajada Quinn, Chirien Pace, Chirsten Pace, Dasia Quinn, and Gabrielle Wilson, and two great-granddaughters: Aniyah Williams and Athena Williams.

She is also survived by her mother Olivia Freeman, four brothers: Jimmie Freeman Jr., Sheldon Freeman (Gwenda), Oras Freeman, and Bobby Freeman (Elisha), one sister: Shirley Lassiter (John), and a host of caring relatives, friends, and associates.

Fancy loved dearly, was loved greatly, and will be missed deeply.
