Funeral services for Fidel Fernando Barrera, 58, of Killeen, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Gonzalo Ferrer officiating. Burial will follow in the Killeen City Cemetery.
Mr. Barrera died Jan. 14, 2016, at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights. He was born Feb. 20, 1957, in Del Rio.
He graduated from Killeen High School in 1975 and attended Southwest Texas State University soon afterward. He was then employed by Wilsonart for more than 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Dallas Cowboys and barbecuing.
Mr. Barrera was preceded in death by his father, Fidel Flores Barrera.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Marisela; five sons, Christopher and his wife, Michelle, Adam, Andrew, Alan and Alexander, all of Killeen; mother, Hermila (Alcala) Barrera of Killeen; three sisters, Veronica "Betty" Barrera, of Killeen, Nora "Sherry" Medina, of Lampasas and Patricia Chavarria, of Arlington; two brothers, Guillermo "Memo" Barrera, of Killeen, and Alfonso "Bunny" Barrera, of Leander; two granddaughters, Mya and Mercedes Barrera, both of Killeen; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home chapel.
