George Harper Jr

Services for George Henry Harper Jr., 79, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen.

Mr. Harper died Nov. 23, 2012. He was born July 29, 1933, in Apalachicola, Fla. He lived his early life in White City, Fla., and was a businessman for many years in Killeen. He was a lifelong Baptist and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga.

Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents, George H. Harper Sr. and Lois Hunt Harper daughter, Shirley Jean Harper brother, MacArthur Harper and brotherinlaw, Leo Howell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Lingerfelt Harper daughters, Teresa D. Harper, Sandra K. HarperMoss and her husband, Michael, and Carol L. Moyer and her husband, Dale grandchildren, Lindsey N. Smith, Greg A. Moyer and his wife, Sonna brothers, Oliver H. Harper, and his wife, Virginia and James E. Harper and his wife, Susan sister, Ann H. Howell sisterinlaw, Marcine V. Hannah brotherinlaw, Rex L. Lingerfelt and his wife, Margaret numerous nieces, nephews, greatnieces and nephews and cousins and a host of friends. All of us will miss Georges thoughtful, generous, creative and loving presence in our lives. Memorials may be made to the Scott White Cancer Center. HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen is in charge or arrangements.
