Services for retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Guy H. Williams Jr., 78, of Killeen, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with a U.S. Army chaplain and the Rev. Peter Hong officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.BRBRWilliams died March 5, 2008, in a Temple hospital.BRBRHe was born July 22, 1929, in Wayne County, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years until he retired as a sergeant first class in 1974.BRBRHis military awards included the Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Good Conduct Medal Clasp, silver; National Defense Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Korea; Senior Aircraft Crewman Badge; Expert Rifle Badge; and Sharpshooter Badge Pistol.BRBRAfter retiring, he refurbished homes for VA Housing.BRBRWilliams was preceded in death by his parents, Guy H. Williams Sr. and Flossie Williams Greenwalt, and his sister, Juanita Williams.BRBRSurvivors include his wife, Ok H. Williams of Killeen; his sons, Lowell Hickie Williams and Paul Rogene Williams, both of Jefferson County, Ill., Billy Sin Fournier of Killeen; his daughters, Kathy and Amy Williams; his brothers, Paul Robert Williams of Kentucky and Dwight Rogene Williams of Texas; and Larry Lee Mahan of Florida, who was considered a brother.BRBRVisitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
