Funeral services for Hazel N. Whitley, 95, of Killeen, will be 1 pm Saturday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
After a long inspiring life and brief illness, Hazel Whitley passed away on January 28, 2013 at the age of 95. Mrs. Whitley grew up with her two younger sisters and loving parents, Tom F. and Pearl Mayberry, in Purmela, Texas. She married her childhood friend, Harold Red Whitley, and moved to Killeen, Texas in 1948, where she raised two adoring children, Tommy and Jerry Whitley. Among her many achievements and admirable qualities, Mrs. Whitley was a farmer, high school valedictorian, captain of the basketball team, successful businesswoman, dedicated community volunteer, election judge for over 30 years, talented gardener and floral designer, world traveler, original member of the Dancing Grannies, and devoted parishioner.
Mrs. Whitley is preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband, and sisters.
She is survived by Tommy and Jerri of Killeen, Jerry and Betty of Seguin, her grandchildren who greatly admired her, and by her many great grandchildren who will be raised in the spirit of her great love, virtue, and impeccable example.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home.
