Herbert Paul Ziegler, 85, of Killeen, TX, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at a hospital in Temple. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 19 at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights, beginning at 11 am. Interment and Military Honors will follow at Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery in Killeen, beginning at 1pm. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18 from 6-8 pm at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:30.
Herb was born on May 5, 1937, in Butler, PA to parents Joseph William Ziegler Sr. and Margaret Martha Fleming. He joined the U.S. Army in 1960, and after 22 years of serving his country, Herb retired as a 1st Sergeant in September of 1982. Herb was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburg Steelers play, and always enjoyed his mornings with a cup of coffee and playing a game or two of solitaire. He lived a wonderful life and because of it he had the best stories. He loved his family unconditionally. He was an amazing provider, a man of faith, a man of principle, and a generous man. He had a big impact on our lives and touched the hearts of many. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tok Sun Ziegler; daughters, Peggy, and Kimberly; and grandchildren, James, Alexa, Myles, Jin, Diego and Addy.
