Hermila Alcala Barrera, age 99, of Killeen, Texas formerly of Brackettville, Texas passed away peacefully on March 23, 2016.
Mrs. Barrera was born on March 17, 1917 in San Pedro De Las Colonias Coahuila, Mexico. She was a homemaker and resident of Killeen since 1961; she was also employed for several years by KISD.
She thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family and looked forward to family gatherings. Mrs. Barrera loved having her children, nieces and nephews by her side. Her love and concern for her entire family was immeasurable and will truly be missed.
Mrs. Barrera was preceded in death by her parents Fernando and Maria Alcala, her husband, Fidel; son Fidel Fernando; grandson, Michael P. Medina; sisters, Adelaida Parras; Tuesnelda Cervantez; Francisca Flores; brothers, Juan Alcala; Fernando Alcala; Alfonso Alcala; Alfredo Alcala; son-in-law's, Frank Medina; and Arthur Chavarria.
She is survived by sons, Guillermo Barrera, of Killeen; Alfonso Barrera (Elida), of Leander; daughters, Veronica Barrera, of Killeen; Sherry Medina, of Lampasas; and Patricia Chavarria, of Arlington; brother, Arminio Alcala (Mary Lou); sister-in-law, Dora Alcala of Del Rio. 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
