Funeral services for Hershel R. Fowler, 86, of Killeen will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen with the Rev. Jack Harvey officiating. Internment with full military honors will be at noon Tuesday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Fowler died July 19, 2015, at his residence. He was born July 18, 1929. Born and educated in Henderson County, he joined the U.S. Army in 1948 and served in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with two bronze camp stars, U.N. Service Medal and Combat Infantry Badge. After he was discharged at Fort Sam Houston, he began his business in small engine repair in San Antonio. Mr. Fowler moved to Killeen in 1995.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; a son, Will; three sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include his son, Andy Fowler of Killeen; one brother, Horce Fowler of Troy; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
