Hussien Safady

A funloving man who never liked to miss a celebration, Hussien Stie Safady passed away on January 12, 2012 his 87th birthday, with his family by his side. Born in 1925, Mr. Safady relished his arrival to the United States sixty years ago and achieving status as an American citizen in 1954. As a resident of Killeen, Texas for more than 58 years, his proudest accomplishment was his family. Mr. Safady is survived by his extraordinary wife of 57 years, Nazek, and five children, eight grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild. They include son Randy and wife, Shirley, of Dallas, their children Christina, Justin, Baylee, and grandson, Liam son Eddie Safady and daughter Randa Safady, both of Austin daughter Dunia Shive and husband, Robert, of Dallas, their children Jordan, Gentry, and Landry and son Danny, of Houston, and his children DJ and Dustin.
The Safady family will receive visitors on Saturday, January 14, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at HarperTalasek Funeral Home, 506 North 38th Street, in Killeen. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m., also at HarperTalasek, presided by Reverend Ryan Kiblinger, with a reception following at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, 3601 South W.S. Young Drive. Pallbearers include sons Randy, Eddie, and Danny, soninlaw Robert Shive, and grandsons Justin, DJ, Dustin, and Gentry. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. James T. Willerson of Houston and Floyd Gilmore of Killeen. A private burial will take place on Monday, January 16, at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Texas Heart Institute, 6770 Bertner Avenue, Houston, Texas, 77030, attention Marc Mattson.
The Safady family expresses profound gratitude to Dr. James Willerson of the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Dr. Richard Cashion, Dr. Robert Allred, and Dr. Fred Morales of Killeen, the compassionate care of the ICU nursing and physician staff at Metroplex Hospital, Ms. Kimberly Davidson, and the skilled team of Killeen EMS.
