Services for Isaac Herrell Hawthorne, 86, of Killeen, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Chapel in Killeen with the Rev. John Abbey officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Valley Cemetery.
Mr. Hawthorne died Aug. 9, 2015, at his residence. He was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Eddy to the late Arthur and Ethel (McClellan) Hawthorne.
He enlisted into the Army on Dec. 15, 1950, in San Antonio. He served two years on active duty, both here in the states and also in Germany.
He was discharged from the Army on Dec. 1, 1952, and immediately began his service with the U.S. Army Reserve from 1953 until 1964. He also worked civil service at Fort Hood for 26 years before retirement.
He was a member of Bethel Bible Way Church.
He worked hard all of his life and will be forever remembered as a good husband, father and provider to his family. He was a good man all the way around.
Mr. Hawthorne was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Watson Harper; twin brother, Billy Terrell Hawthorne; and his grandfather and grandmother, William and Mary Molly McClellan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Jo Hawthorne of Killeen; sons, Charles Hawthorne of Temple and Kenneth Hawthorne of Killeen; daughter, Anita C. Miller of Killeen; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
