Graveside services for J.C. Clines Sr., 88, of Killeen, will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with Dr. Shaun L. Moton officiating. Mr. Clines died September 2, 2009, in Temple, Texas. J.C. Clines was born on January 3, 1921, in Maynula, Mississippi., where he spent his childhood.
He joined the US Army in 1942 and served in New Guinea; his military awards include the Asian Pacific Theater Operations Medal and a WWII Victory Medal.
After returning home from WWII he moved to Los Angeles, California were he met and married Johnnie Mae Hampton.
During his lifetime Mr. Clines worked many jobs, but for the majority of his life he was employed as a cook for the railroad.
Mr. Clines was preceded in death by his wife Johnnie Mae Clines; his parents Allen and Perala Clines; three brothers and eight sisters.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons; Jerry Clines and his wife Lynn of Killeen, Texas; J.C. Clines Jr. and his wife Rita of Compton, California; Danny Allen Clines and his wife Myra of Terrance, California; one sister; Margie Addison of Liberty, Mississippi; 8 grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen is in charge of arrangements.
