Jackie Harris

Funeral services for retired Sgt. 1st Class Jackie Lee Harris, 68, of Killeen, will be at a later date.

Mr. Harris died Aug. 5, 2015, at a local nursing home. Born March 31, 1947, and educated in Shinnston, W.Va., he joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War, Korea and Germany. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Assault Badge. He was discharged at Fort Campbell, Ky., and he moved to Killeen in 1996.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 223. He was loved and will be missed by his family.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Kathie of Killeen; stepson, Norman R. Stout of Killeen; two brothers, Dave Harris and Jim McCombs, both of West Virginia; and one sister, Sue Fitzgerald of Hughesville, Md.
