James Edward Buzzard II

James Edward Buzzard II, age 49 of Killeen, passed from this life Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 6 pm Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.

James was born on December 27, 1973, to James Edward Buzzard and Catherine Francis Gawne in Rochester, New York. He earned a bachelor’s degree in science mathematics and worked for Copperas Cove I.S.D. James believed teaching was his calling in life. His passion for helping students was evident through his dedication to his lessons. He believed seeing the student's face light up when they “got it” was the best part of his job. He always strived to create new and exciting ways for his students to learn in and out of the classroom. The creation of his YouTube channel and his light board showcased his willingness to break boundaries. In his free time, James loved to play pool and spend time with his family. He considered himself a “Pool-Shark” and loved bringing his family along to spend time doing what he loved. He loved to watch Formula 1, WWII documentaries, soccer, and animated movies. Though he graduated from an A&M campus, he was a proud LSU dad through and through. He loved watching and attending games with his family and showcased his love for his daughter through LSU. Finally, James was a dog lover. After his daughter left for college, he poured his love into his dogs. His pretty girl, Nala, was spoiled rotten; his grand-dog, Tyson, could rely on his “Papi” to get him whatever his mom didn’t. He loved his dogs as part of his family.

James is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Francis Gawne.

Survivors include his parents, James and Lisa Buzzard, and Franklin Weed; his loving wife, April Robin Buzzard; daughter, Alexandria Robin Buzzard; and sisters, Octavia Ruth Dorazil, and Carlie Ann Virgina.

A time of visitation will be held from 6-8 pm with a rosary recited at 7 pm Monday, August 14, 2023, at the funeral home.
