James Allen Mathews
He was born on March 2, 1939 in Ft. Wayne Indiana, and had lived in the local area since 1976.
Mathews graduated from Central Texas College in 1979 and The University of Mary Harden-Baylor in 1982.
He served from 1957-1960 in the Marines and from 1960-1978 in the Army. While in the service he served two tours in Vietnam from 1965 -1966 and then again in 1968-1969.
While in the service he was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation four times. The Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with eight Battlefield Campaign Stars along with several other medals.
He was a member of VFW Post 9192 of Killeen. He worked for the Food Service Division VA Hospital Temple, until he retired in 2002.
Survivors include daughter Dianne Womack, from Cedar Park, Texas; Sons Matt , Mark, and Mike Mathews all of Killeen, Texas; brother John Mathews of New Haven, Indiana: Sister Sharon Robinson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Teiko Mathews; brother Michael Mathews of Lotto, Indiana and sister Sandy Minton of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
