Services for James Eugene Jim Gene Wommack, 84, of Harker Heights, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen with Dr. John Hallum officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Wommack died March 1, 2012. He loved his country and served proudly in the Army for 30 years. Following his Army career, he worked in Civil Service Quality Control until his retirement.
He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, Killeen Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Waco, Karem Shrine Temple Waco, WesBell Shrine Club, Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 490, Killeen, honorary member of 2nd Dragoons, 2nd U.S. Cavalry and the Antique Studebaker Association.
Mr. Wommack was preceded in death by his parents, Wellington C. Wommack and Mamie Ruth Wilkes Wommack his sister, Mittie Mae Wommack McDaniels and his grandson, John Jeffrey Robertson.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Margaret Lucille McGowan Wommack son, James Stephen Wommack daughter, Margaret Suzanne Wommack Robertson and her husband, Ben R. Robertson granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Robertson Wells and her husband, Byron T. Wells grandson, James Benjamin Robertson and his wife, Nicole Licari Robertson greatgrandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Wells, Jack Thomas Wells and Liliana Licari Robertson his brother, Laverne Wommack and his wife, Annie Ruth his sisters, Virginia Wommack White and Minnie Lee Wommack and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Childrens Hospital in Dallas, Shriners Burn Hospital in Galveston or Eastside Baptist Church in Killeen.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
