Jennie Tidwell

October 14, 1925 — February 27, 2010

Services for Jennie Pearl Tidwell, 84, of Harker Heights, will be Thursday at HarperTalasek Chapel at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Skip Blancett officiating. Interment will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.

Jennie Pearl Standridge was born on October 14, 1925, in Holliday, Texas, to James and Ola Standridge. Being a child of the depression, she was fortunate to grow up on a farm and with a loving family that included grandparents, aunts and uncles, two older brothers and a younger sister. After high school, she attended a business school. Later, she met and married her husband, Raymond. They traveled the world together as he served in the Army. They lived in France, Georgia, Alaska, Maryland, and Okinawa before retiring at Ft. Hood. During that time, they raised two daughters, Carolyn and Dianne. Pearl joined the work force when the girls started school. She worked for Civil Service as an accountant for many years before she retired. She and Raymond also owned and operated Rays Texaco, a service station in Killeen, until his death in 1979.

Pearl is survived by her sister and brotherinlaw, June and Marvin Duss her daughter and soninlaw, Dianne and Michael Campbell her sisterinlaw, Dorothy Standridge her grandchildren, David and Kim Poole, Dwayne and Terri Poole, Erik and Robin Sturtevant, Tamara and James Piper, Shana and Robert Margulies, Maia and Tres Churchill, Tanya and Luke Glanzman, and Jason and Cheryl Henderson. She is also survived by many greatgrandchildren who have wonderful memories of their Grandma Pearl, by many loving nieces and nephews, and by her special friend, Donna Johnston, who helped so much in her care the last few years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Floyd and Jack, her husband Raymond, her daughter Carolyn, and two granddaughters Kimberly and Cheryl Lynn.

Pearl loved her family and friends. She especially enjoyed the yearly family trips to Branson, Missouri. She was a member of the Vernon Chapter of the Eastern Star all of her life. She loved to garden, maybe a connection to the early days on the farm. She loved to sew, crochet, read, and listen to music. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Wednesday 68 PM at HarperTalasek Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
