Jerry Lewis Hamilton, 72, passed away on December 17, 2021, at his home in Killeen, Texas. Services are on December 28 at 11:30AM at the St Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights, Texas. Burial will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas at 1PM. Visitation is on December 27 from 6-8 PM at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas.
Born on June 19, 1949, in McMinnville, Oregon to Ira Hamilton of St Helens, Oregon and Marie Valet of Gates, Oregon. He attended primary and secondary schools in Blue Lake and Eureka California. Jerry enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served combat and overseas tours in South Vietnam, South Korea, West Germany, and Italy. He served at various posts in the US, which include Fort Ord, Fort Lee, Hunter Army Airfield, and Fort Hood. He retired in 1988, with his final last duty station at Fort Bliss. He worked briefly with offshore drilling followed by work with several Texas Correctional facilities and completed Maintenance Skills Trades certifications from Central Texas College. He concluded his work with Cedar Crest Hospital and Residential Treatment Center in Belton, Texas, until his final retirement in 2011.
Up to his passing, Jerry loved hunting and fishing. He cherished the company of friends on hunting and fishing trips and the occasional visit to play billiards. With his certifications in maintenance and some self-taught skills, he amazed friends and family with his projects.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Ira and Marie Hamilton and his brothers Robert and Donald.
His survivors include his twin sister, Terry; brothers, Lowell, Roger, and Dennis; his wife, Sun; son, Tim and wife Tobi; grandchildren, Joseph and Jenna; and sister-in-law, Frieda.
